Description
This building consists of a house and an attached barn, which are part of a group and are located next to Austonley Hall. The house likely dates from the early 18th century but has been significantly altered in the 20th century. It features rendered walls and a half hipped stone slate roof, with chamfered gable copings on the west side supported by moulded kneelers and moulded stone brackets. An ashlar stack is present. The house is two storeys tall, and the east elevation retains some original features, including hood mouldings over the ground and first floor windows. However, the windows are from the 20th century, and the doorway details are obscured. The west gable wall has two single sash windows on the ground floor and a four-light stone mullioned window on the first floor, although two of the mullions have been removed. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins and also has a stone slate roof. It features an original small doorway with a Tudor arch, but the roof trusses are not original.
