Description
Carr House and Barn, dated 1850, is a farmhouse and barn built in one range, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone slate roof. The building features coped gables and paired stone brackets on the southeast side. It has two storeys.
On the southeast elevation, the ground floor includes a central doorway with a stone surround and two three-light stone mullioned windows, both with double lintels. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows and one two-light stone mullioned window, all with pronounced sills.
The barn section features a large doorway with a semi-circular arched head, stone surrounds, and tie-stones, topped with a pronounced keystone and a datestone that reads: "B J & S Carr House 1850." Above the datestone is a light with a semi-circular false arch, and there are stone surrounds at the entrance on each side.
On the northwest elevation of the house, the ground floor has a lean-to extension and two two-light stone mullioned windows, while the first floor has three two-light stone mullioned windows. The northwest elevation of the barn has an entrance with a stone surround and one two-light window with the mullion removed on the first floor.
