Description
A late 18th-century house with a barn, situated near Pole Moor. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with quoins, and has a pitched stone slate roof. The south elevation is divided into three parts, numbers 2, 3, and 4. Number 2 features a 6-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor and two 3-light stone mullioned windows above. Number 3 has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, alongside a 4-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has two 2-light stone mullioned windows. Number 4 incorporates a recessed six-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, featuring a King mullion, and two 3-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, all with stone surrounds. On the north elevation, number 2 has a single 3-light stone mullioned window. The east gable shows a former entrance, now partially blocked and integrated into a 3-light stone mullioned window, alongside a further 2-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has a 4-light stone mullioned window, with two lights blocked. A barn adjoins the cottages at a 90-degree angle. The barn’s north elevation has a large doorway with a segmental arched head and quoins, while the south elevation features another large doorway with a segmental arched head and quoins, as well as a smaller entrance.
