Description

This is a terrace of four houses with underdwellings, built in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with stone quoins. The roofs are covered with stone slate and tiles, and there are various chimney stacks, some of ashlar construction.

The terrace fronts onto Woodhead Road and has four frontages, each with two bays per dwelling. The ground floor of each house has an entrance, one in a modern porch, and a single four-light stone mullioned window, some of the mullions of which have been removed. The first and second floors of each house have two three-light stone mullioned windows, with some mullions also removed and one light blocked in some cases. Number 230-242 features a six-light window to the first floor, with two mullions removed, alongside a five-light stone mullioned window. A two-light stone mullioned window is visible in the north-east gable, at first-floor level.
