Description
Nos 181, 183, 185, 187, 189, and 191 on Woodhead Road is a terrace with underdwellings, built in 1886. The building features hammer-dressed stone with an ashlar frontage, raised quoins, and a plinth. It has a stone slate roof with coped gables and stone brackets, and there are six stone stacks. The terrace is two and five storeys high.
On the north-west elevation, the ground floor has three doorways and three single lights with raised sills. The first floor mirrors the ground floor with six single lights. The south-east elevation has an entrance with a fanlight and three sash windows on the ground floor. The first floor contains three sashes, one of which is blocked, along with a later light. The second floor has four sashes, two of which are blocked. The third and fourth floors each feature three windows with a central mullion. A slightly later two-storey pitched roof extension to the left obscures part of the elevation. This terrace is listed as a good example of a distinctive local type.
