Description

This is a terrace of four houses, originally part of a larger row, dating back to the early 18th century. Numbers 55 and 57 were altered in the mid-19th century. The houses are built of hammer-dressed stone, with quoins and a stone slate roof now covered in bitumen. There are three ashlar chimney stacks and kneelers to the rear. The houses are two storeys high.

Numbers 59 and 61 have a doorway on each side. The left-hand doorway of Number 59 has a particularly deep lintel, while the right-hand doorway of Number 61 is a later addition. A former 8-light window remains at Number 59, with only the king mullion and one other mullion present. Above this is a former 7-light window with a blocked central light, retaining only the king mullion and one further mullion. Numbers 55 and 57 form a terraced pair, each with a doorway to the left and a 5-light window where two mullions have been removed. The first floor windows in each house are two 3-light windows, again with all mullions removed.
