Description
The Friends' Meeting House is a detached house originally built around 1699 and used as a Friends' Meeting House, though it has undergone significant alterations in the 19th century and has been recently refurbished. The building features rendered walls and a stone slate roof, and it stands two storeys tall. There is a near central door located in a recent porch, with 2-light sash windows on both floors to the left and right, dating from the 19th century. An outshut is present at the rear.
On January 11, 1699, the General Quarter Sessions of the West Riding, held at Wakefield, ordered that this newly erected house be recorded as a place of religious worship, establishing it as a focal point for Quaker activity in the area.
