Description

The mile pole adjacent to the Lower Royal George Public House dates from 1755 and was created by surveyor Mr. John Wodhed. It features three carved pointing hands, complete with coat cuffs and buttons, which indicate directions to various locations: Marfden 3 miles, Scammonden 1 mile, and Huddersfield 5 miles.
