Description

This is a mile post located to the north of Heyfield, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It features a cast iron triangular front mounted on a stone post with a rounded top. The post is inscribed with the following information: "GREENHEAD & SHELLEY LANE HEAD ROAD WOOLDALE HOLMFIRTH DENBY 1 MILE DALE 5½ MILES CAWTHORNE 9 MILES BARNSLEY 13 MILES."
