Description

Bilham Grange Farmhouse is a large farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which has been altered over time. It features rendered walls and a stone slate roof that is covered with bitumen, complete with hollow chamfered copings on the main gable. The building has four altered chimney stacks and is two storeys high, consisting of two parallel gabled ranges, one of which is slightly smaller and set back on the garden front, creating an L-shaped plan.

The main range displays drip moulds over the openings on both the ground and first floors. On the farmyard elevation, there is an entrance on the left side of each range. The left range has double chamfered windows, including two 2-light windows on the ground floor and a fire window located under the valley. The first floor features one 4-light window and one 3-light window, along with a 4-light window in the gable apex that has a hood mould. The right range has one 3-light window on the first floor, while other windows have been altered or are of later date. The right elevation showcases a broad projecting chimney breast that supports two stacks, one of which is truncated. There is a brick addition on the left side of the chimney breast with a brick stack. Lean-to farm buildings are attached to the left elevation.

The garden front has various double chamfered windows, most of which have been altered. An entrance on the left side of the main range leads into a central hall, and there is a tablet with a carved shield to the right. An altered window on the first floor to the right once had an inserted doorway with an external stone stair. The gable apex of the main range features an altered 4-light window.

Inside, the farmhouse includes oak panelling (painted) in the ground and upper rooms of the main range, along with a 17th-century arched and chamfered fireplace.
