Description
The lock at New Cut Top, located at the junction with the River Calder, is a canal lock built around 1769, designed by engineer John Smeaton. It features stone sides and copings, along with a pair of wooden lock gates that retain their original balance beams. A later iron bridge nearby is not included in this listing.
