Description
Bremen House is a large detached house dating from 1868. It was constructed in ashlar with a hipped slate roof. The house has two main storeys, and a prominent three-storey tower in the centre bay, which projects forward. A deeply moulded eaves cornice, bracketed, runs around the building. The ground floor has three bays of round-arched sash windows with moulded voussoirs and foliate imposts. The first floor windows are segment-headed, featuring foliate swags on either side. The right-hand bay has paired windows divided by pink granite columns with foliate capitals. The entrance features a door with six elaborately moulded panels, a semi-circular fanlight, and a keystone set within richly carved pink granite surrounds to the columns and foliage in the impost bands, spandrels, and panels. The third storey of the tower has prominent angle pilasters incorporating a full entablature and two round-arched windows on each side, again with moulded voussoirs, imposts, and a keystone.
