Description

The Church of St. Saviour is a Gothic Revival church built between 1870 and 1871 by Walter Hanstock. It features pitched faced stone with ashlar dressings and a steeply pitched slate roof with gable copings. The church has a four-bay buttressed nave, a two-bay chancel, a south porch, and a south vestry wing. The aisles are adorned with paired windows that have pointed arches, while the clerestory contains eight trefoil lights. The east window consists of a triple group of lancets, and there is a blind west window.

Inside, the church has a fairly plain interior with a three-bay arcade on squat columns that have boldly foliated capitals and double chamfered arches. A tall chancel arch is present, and most windows feature marginal glazing, with stained glass in the east window and circa 1901 stained glass in one of the south aisle windows. The roof is supported by scissor braced trusses.
