Description

This barn, located approximately 15 metres to the north-west of Nos 1, 2, 3, and 4 Blackwall Farm, is now used as boarding kennels. It likely dates from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The structure is built of rubble brought to course and coursed squared stone, topped with a roof of stone slate and 20th-century corrugated sheet. The barn consists of three bays, with an outshut on the front right bay. There is a central cart-entry featuring quoined corners and a monolithic lintel, along with a narrow light above it. To the left end, there is a mistal doorway with a plain stone surround. The right outshut has quoins, a bricked-up window, and a doorway with a plain stone surround on the left return. At the rear, there is an opposing cart-entry with a monolithic lintel that is partially blocked. Inside, the left wall is lined with 20th-century brick, and there is one 19th-century Queen post roof truss alongside another from the 20th century. The barn is included for its group value.
