Description
Green Field is a large house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of large dressed stone, with each block having a punched surface within a margin, and features a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a three-bay symmetrical front. This front includes a wide doorway with a Gibbs surround and a triple keystone. Above the doorway and to either side are sashed windows with projecting sills, some of which still have their original twelve-pane glazing. The eaves cornice adds to the architectural detail. At the rear, there is a double-pile range under a two-span roof that is positioned at right angles to the main structure. A notable feature is the stone cantilevered staircase leading to a first-floor doorway, which has monolithic jambs. The main range has a hipped roof with two stacks.
