Description

Rochdale Canal Lock Number 6, also known as Brearley Upper Lock, was built in 1798 and designed by engineers W. Jessop and W. Crossley. The lock features large dressed stone retaining walls that include rebates for gates. It is equipped with the facility for a double set of bottom gates.
