Description

Rochdale Canal Lock Number 5, also known as Edward Kilner Lock, was built in 1798 by engineers W. Jessop and W. Crossley. The lock features large dressed stone retaining walls that include rebates for gates and is designed to accommodate a double set of bottom gates.
