Description
Lower Place Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a symmetrical south front with quoins and a string course. The centrally placed doorway has a very shallow arched lintel with spandrels and composite jambs that have a simple chamfer. On either side of the doorway are double chamfered mullioned windows with four long lights above, although the left window is missing two mullions. There is a two-light window set between these larger windows, which also lacks a mullion. The gables are coped and have moulded kneelers and stacks. At the rear, there are double framed flat faced mullions with square reveals, featuring four lights above and a two-light staircase window set between.
