Description

The barn located approximately 10 metres to the east of Pickwood House is a Grade II listed structure dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is built from coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn is two storeys high and consists of four bays.

On the roadside front, there is a pointed round-arched chamfered cart entry, which is flanked by chamfered arched vents. The right bay includes a mistal doorway with a plain stone surround, a 20th-century window to the left, and windows with three and two lights above. There is an end stack on the right side.

At the rear, there is an opposing chamfered quoined cart entry with a cambered chamfered timber lintel, and a corbel above to the left, which may have supported a former canopy. To the right, there is a chamfered rectangular vent. The left bay features a mistal doorway with a plain stone surround, and above it, there is a window that originally had four lights but now has two.

The left return of the barn is canted and has a plain stone-surround doorway on the left, a two-light window on the right, and a blocked lunette with a ledge above. The right return, due to the slope of the land, has the first floor at ground level and features a plain stone-surround doorway to the right.
