Description

Nos 539-541 on Gibbet Street is a former Friends Meeting House that has been in use since 1696, likely adapted from an existing building. The structure is two storeys high, built of coursed sandstone with large irregular gritstone quoins. It features a full-width outshut facing the road and a stone slate roof with a central stack. The building has a squared jamb doorway and an early 19th-century window located in the centre and to the right. There are remains of chamfered mullion windows, and a massive lintel is present over the side door in the left-hand gable end. Additionally, there is a large blocked chamfered window in the right-hand west gable end.
