Description

Macpelah House is a pair of single-cell cottages dating from the mid-18th century, with an additional cell added in the early 19th century, now combined into a single dwelling. The cottages are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The south front of each original cell features a doorway with monolithic jambs and a former four-light window, now altered to two wide lights, on each floor. Quoins are present on the west end. The rear elevation has two bays of four-light, flat-faced mullioned windows, and an off-centre doorway with monolithic jambs. A break in the masonry is visible above the doorway, indicating a change in construction materials. A chapel was formerly associated with the cottages; parts of it remain as a garage and are not included in the listing.
