Description
This is a row of six cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The front elevation, facing the road, is two storeys high, while the rear elevation, which overlooks the canal, is three storeys high. The cottages follow the line of the road. The front features quoins and six bays, each containing a doorway with jambs made of tie stones. Some doorways retain their original panelled doors with simple fanlights above, and wide sash windows with plain stone surrounds and slightly projecting sills to both floors, although the glazing has been altered. The rear elevation has six bays of flat-faced mullioned windows, each with four lights, except for the window in the first cottage, which has three. The roof has six chimney stacks. The cottages are prominent within the landscape.
