Description

The Wren Nest is an early 17th-century house, originally composed of two cells, with an additional cell added in the mid-19th century. It is now used for agricultural purposes. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a single-storey aisle to the rear. The gable entry to the right of the fire-stack is now obscured by the added 19th-century cell. Double-chamfered mullioned windows are present on the ground floor, with four lights (lacking two mullions), four lights, and two lights (fire-windows). The first floor has two chamfered mullioned windows of three lights, one lacking a mullion. An added cottage is visible. The style of the added cottage is Vernacular Revival. A doorway features composite jambs and a chamfered surround, with two-light chamfered mullioned sash windows and single chamfered sashed windows above on the first floor. The right-hand return wall and rear are rendered. A three-light chamfered mullioned window is located on the aisle.
