Description
The part of Mount Pleasant Mills located at the rear of Mount Pleasant House, currently occupied by A. J. Dyter, Cabinet Maker and Firth Joiners, is a mill that dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and has a slate roof. The building stands 3½ storeys tall and features nine bays of windows, each with plain stone surrounds and slightly projecting sills on every floor. The seventh bay includes taking-in doors on each floor with monolithic jambs. The gable above bays six, seven, and eight has a taking-in door leading to the attic. The right-hand return wall has three bays of similar windows. The attic is distinguished by a broad Venetian window that has an expressed keystone and impost block. Most of the windows in this prominent gable, which stands out in the landscape, are fitted with small paned glazing.
