Description

The Church School, located at 1164 Upper Kirkgate, is a long Gothic building likely dating from the early 19th century. It has one main storey above a lower ground floor or part basement. The building features arched windows with altered glazing below and traceried upper windows with both arched and flat heads. Its roof is adorned with battlements and pinnacles, and there are three side gables covered with slate. The entrance at the north end has been altered, while the rear is plain with end wings. This building holds group value with the Church of St John located on Church Street.
