Description

Beech Grove and Southray are a large house, originally built for a mill owner in the early 19th century. The house is constructed from machine-cut stone and has a slate roof. The front facade is symmetrical, with a central doorway topped by a cornice and a rectangular fanlight containing stained and painted glass. The ground floor features two large sash windows with sixteen panes each. A sill band runs at first floor level, beneath three similar, though smaller, windows. The roof is hipped, with two decorative chimney stacks on the ridge.
