Description
A row of five single-cell cottages dating to the late 18th century, located on Oldham Road. The cottages are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. They are three storeys high and double pile, meaning two rooms deep. Each cottage except one has a paired doorway with monolithic jambs, sharing a wider central jamb. They feature thin, flat-faced mullioned windows with overlapping lintels and sills of four lights to each floor, although the ground floor windows lack mullions. There are three stacks on the ridge of the roof. The rear of the cottages has similar window arrangement. Originally, the cottages were built back-to-back, but are now arranged as through-houses. The top attic floor was originally one open room and was formerly used for textile manufacture.
