Description

These are two houses, located on Snowden Road in Shipley, that may have originally been a single dwelling. The building dates to 1616, though it may have been reconstructed, potentially in the 19th century. The exterior is constructed of thinly coursed rubble with a stone slate roof. The houses have two storeys and three windows on the first floor. A 19th-century doorway is located on the left side, with a two-light fire window on the right. Between these, there is a five-light and a six-light window, each retaining only two mullions and a hoodmould. The five-light window has been subject to recent repairs. A square tablet above the six-light window is inscribed with "T.C. I.C. " and the date 1616. On the ground floor, there are two four-light and one three-light windows, each retaining only a centre mullion. All windows are double-chamfered and have recent casements. The building has gable copings, and a truncated ashlar stack to the right gable. A continuous outshut extends to the rear, featuring recent or altered openings. The right gable end has an entrance with plain jambs but a massive, triangular, chamfered lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
