Description
Nos 14, 16, and 18 North Parade were built between 1907 and 1910 by architect J. Ledingham. These tall three-storey buildings feature ashlar sandstone fronts and triple Dutch gables, showcasing Renaissance and Jacobean architectural styles. Originally constructed as chambers with shops on the ground floor, the three elevations are designed as a large three-bay arcade extending up to the gables. They include deeply moulded arches with spaced banding and keystones, as well as a festooned frieze and cornice. The gables have mullioned attic windows, and at the second floor level, the arcades are fully glazed with mullions and double transoms. A canted bay window with mullioned lights fills the first floor, which remains intact at No 16. The ground floor features modern shop fronts positioned between pilasters.
