Description
Prudential Assurance, located at 6 Tyrell Street, was built in 1895 and is designed by Waterhouse. This building features a free interpretation of early French Renaissance style, constructed from red brick, terracotta, and grey granite. It stands three storeys high and includes dormers and gables. The structure has three elevations with splayed corners facing Sunbridge Road and Ivegate. The ground floor showcases round arched doorways and windows with deeply moulded reveals and stepped sills. Above, there are mullioned windows with weathered strings and panelled aprons. The corners feature shallow rectangular oriels, and there are two bay arcaded loggias with balconies on the third floor. Gabled dormers are linked by arcades above the parapet. This listing also includes No 13 Ivegate and Nos 8 and 10 Sunbridge Road.
