Description
Whiteknights House Annexe is a late 19th-century building, possibly designed by Waterhouse. It stands two storeys tall with a gabled attic, constructed of red brick featuring grey brick quoins and dressings. The ground floor has stone crenellated square bays at the outer gabled breaks, and there is a stone string course above the ground floor. The outer gables are topped with shaped stone coping and finials. The building has a 1:3:1 bay arrangement with cross glazed sash windows.
A central turret, which has a modillion cornice but lacks a roof, is a notable feature. To the right, there is a low two-storey service wing with two windows, characterized by cogged eaves, and a kitchen extension (possibly by Joseph Morris from the 1890s) that includes a crested ridge and dormer light. There is also a hipped extension at the far right with a gable designed for a bell. The roofs are covered with slate, and the chimneys are stepped, made of red and grey brick with cogged capping.
The west front mirrors the east but includes two-storey square bays added to the gable ends and a central porch with a shaped gable, featuring Gothic panelled doors. Inside, the building has a stair hall typical of Waterhouse, with a stilted arch screen that has stop-chamfered edges.
