Description
No 5 Beck Bottom is a mid to late 17th century house built from coursed gritstone, featuring irregular flush quoins. The building is two stories high and has two bays, topped with a gable end roof made of stone slate. A large external chimney stack with offsets is located at the east gable end.
The south front displays a former five-light window that has been altered to a three-light chamfered mullion window with splayed reveals on the right side, and a similar former three-light window that has been reduced to a one-light on the left side. There is also an outshut porch. The house underwent alterations to its windows and had its chimney stacks recapped in the late 18th century and early 19th century. Next to the external stack, there is a third three-light chamfered mullion window.
On the rear elevation, there are both single and two-light square mullion windows from the 18th century, but the right side of the ground floor retains the splayed reveal opening of an original former three-light window. Additionally, there is a single-storey altered outhouse range across the west gable end.
