Description
No 153 on Carr Bottom Road is a mid to late 17th century house built from coursed gritstone. It has two storeys and two bays, featuring irregular flush quoins and a gable end roof made of stone slate. A large external chimney stack with quoins and offsets is located at the west end, along with an early 19th century chimney on the ridge. The house has undergone alterations to its windows in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The front of the house has two single light windows, which were formerly two light windows, set in squared surrounds, and there are traces of two other former openings. The entrance is on the right side of the front and features a modern porch. The east gable end still has a three light chamfered mullion window set in a recessed splayed reveal. The rear of the house includes 19th century and modern windows.
