Description

This is a terrace of ten workers' houses, numbers 52 to 61 Titus Street, built in 1868 as part of the Saltaire model village. Designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt, the houses are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. Each house is two storeys and two bays wide, with the end houses slightly projecting and featuring bracketed gables. The entrances, featuring stepped reveals and fanlights, and the ground-floor windows are all round-arched and archivolted. The end houses incorporate a triple-grouped round-arched window to the first floor. A sill band runs across the first floor. Number 56 retains its original six-pane sashes. Stone brackets support the guttering. The return elevations also have two bays.
