Description
The coach-house located 15 metres west of the kitchen wing of Farfield Hall is an early 19th-century structure. It is built of punch-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and consists of 13 irregular bays. Notable architectural elements include a plinth, raised quoins, and moulded gutter brackets.
In the first and eleventh bays, there are segmental-arched carriage entrances that feature impost blocks and keystones. The third, sixth, ninth, and thirteenth bays have semicircular-arched doorways, also with impost blocks, keystones, and fanlights. Matching windows with small-paned glazing and fanlights are found in the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and twelfth bays. The first floor includes keyed oculi in the first, third, sixth, ninth (solid), and eleventh (solid) bays. The right-hand return wall has a Venetian window, and all windows and doorways are framed with raised surrounds. The roof is hipped and has two stacks.
