Description

Nos 78 and 80 on Main Street in Haworth are three dwellings, originally two back-to-back homes, now comprising a house and a house with a shop. They date from the early to mid 19th century and are constructed of coursed millstone grit with a stone slate roof. The buildings are two and three storeys high, featuring three second-floor windows in total, with a side entrance to no 80.

The structure is built on a slope, with the left portion being two storeys and the right portion three storeys. On the left, there is a segment-headed cart arch with voussoirs and impost blocks. To the right, there is a 20th-century glazed door set in a plain stone surround. Next to the door, there is a three-light window, with a similar window above it. On the second floor, there are two two-light windows and a three-light window to the right. All the windows have flat-faced mullions and plain stone surrounds with projecting cills. The building features plain gutter brackets, mostly paired, on the tabling, and an end stack is located to the right.

At the rear, the building is three storeys high. To the right, there is a six-panel door with an overlight in a plain stone surround, and to the left, there is a two-light window. There are also two-light windows on the first and second floors. The plain gutter brackets continue here. The right return of the archway has steps leading up to a six-panel door under an overlight with glazing bars, also in a plain stone surround.
