Description
The outbuilding located on the south side of Lower Hoyle Ing Farmhouse dates from the mid 18th century or possibly the early 19th century. This small structure, likely a bothy, features an unexpectedly architectural design for its size. It is two storeys tall and constructed from sandstone "bricks" with quoins. The east front is pedimented and includes moulded coping and a corniced chimney. Pigeon holes are positioned on either side of a bull's eye in the center of the tympanum. The first floor has two narrow round-arched windows flanking a larger, false central window, which has impost blocks and a key to the arch, with a painted intersecting glazing pattern. There are two very small ground floor lights on each side of a plain doorway. The farmhouse itself was rebuilt in the late 19th century.
