Description
Nos. 18 and 20 Highgate are a late 18th-century building, likely originally a farmhouse with an attached barn, later altered into tenements in the early 19th century. The main house is constructed of sandstone that appears like brick, with flush quoins. It has a stone slate roof with bracketed eaves and corniced chimneys. The symmetrical front has three windows, and a plain squared jamb doorway with a modern porch. The windows are square mullioned with two lights, with a single light above the doorway. The doorway features a small keystone and a moulded capping to the lintel, all within squared surrounds. A lead rainwater head of 18th-century design is also present. No. 20 has a two-bay front, with the stonework painted, and features two-light square mullion windows above a small, modern shop front.
