Description

A long row of eight cottages dates from the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. They are arranged as double-depth single cells, two cottages per bay. Each cottage has a 3-light, flat-faced, mullioned stepped window on each floor to the left of the door. Each doorway is flanked by monolithic jambs, with a 2-light window above the door. Three cottages have mid-to-late 20th-century glass storm porches covering the doorways. There are eight stacks positioned along the ridge. The row represents a good example of working-class housing, providing accommodation for millworkers during the early stages of industrialisation, and is comparable to Club Row.
