Description
The Laundry at Esholt Hall is an early 18th-century two-storey building constructed from gritstone, featuring a rectangular plan. It has chamfered quoins, a sill band, and corbelled eaves beneath a hipped slate roof. The south-facing windows have fixed glazing bars set in raised flat surrounds. This laundry is located directly behind Esholt Hall and incorporates a crenellated 16th-century tombstone within its main wall. The tombstone has three niches and four shields, and it is inscribed with the name "Elesabet Pudsay," who was the last Prioress of Esholt nunnery, having died around 1540.
