266 yds south-east of south front

of Esholt Hall SE 1839 15/40C

  1. Circa 1707. Two tall ashlar corniced gate piers now standing in open grassland but lined up with the original avenue to the south and therefore the original gate piers of the southern main approach. Widely spaced however so that there may have been an inner pair. The shafts have arched apertures.
