Description

This is a house, recently used as a nurses home, dating from around 1900. It is constructed of dressed stone and render, with ashlar dressings and a plain tile mansard hipped roof. There are four ridge stacks and a single gable stack.

The south-east front has a recessed centre featuring a panelled door to the left with an overlight. To the right is a three-light window with chamfered transoms. Above the recessed section is a deeply bracketed eaves line and a five-light glazing bar dormer window. Flanking the recessed centre are single, two-storey square bays topped with curved gables. Each bay has a recessed curved bay window with plain casements and upper glazing bars, and a single four-light glazing bar casement above. To the left of the recessed centre is a recessed blank bay, with a three-light dormer window above and further small dormers above that.

The north-east entrance front has a central two-light mullion window to the left and a four-light mullion window to the right. Above, there is a central two-light glazing bar sash window, with a three-light dormer to the left and a porch with a two-light mullion window to the right. To the right of the porch is a panelled door, above which is a three-light window with a curved centre.

The north-west garden front has four central sash windows with glazing bar upper lights. Above are two three-light dormers. To the left is a two-storey square bay window with a curved gable, and a five-light recessed and curved bay window with a three-light and a two-light glazing bar sash above. To the right is an irregular three-storey service wing.

The interior retains good quality panelling and stairs in the staircase hall, along with a fine Art Nouveau style stone fireplace. A reception room to the right features Ionic pilasters and a fireplace.
