Description

This canal warehouse, initially part of T.W. Shuttleworth and Son's joinery business, was constructed in 1852, as indicated by the initials "J G" on the building. It is built of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The two-bay front presents segmental-arched cart entrances; the left entrance features a dated keystone, while the right is blocked. Above the cart entrances is a three-light mullioned window, stepped in design, with some of the lights blocked. Coped gables with kneelers finish the roofline. The rear elevation fronts the canal and features three bays, each with taking-in doors to the first and second floors, while the central bay has a square window to each floor. Attached to the left return wall is a projecting cast-and wrought-iron lampholder.
