Description
This is a row of four cottages located at 9, 11, 13, and 15 St John’s Street, Silsden, dating to the late 18th century. Numbers 9 and 11 are back-to-back. The cottages are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, laid in a watershot pattern, with a stone slate roof. The buildings are arranged in a "T" shape, with two storeys facing the street and three storeys at the rear, overlooking the stream. The street frontage has six bays. Each cottage has a doorway with monolithic jambs and a rectangular fanlight, positioned to the left of a four-paned sash window with a plain stone surround. Two smaller sashes are present on the first floor. There are two stacks on the ridge and a further set forward. The rear elevation has three bays of sash windows on each floor. The left-hand return wall incorporates a doorway (serving No. 9) and a single-light window on each floor.
