Description
Nos 36 and 38 North Parade, built around 1895-1898 by architect J. Ledingham, feature Flemish Renaissance details. The building has tall four-storey facades made of ashlar sandstone, with a two-bay giant pilastered arcade that rises to paired steep gables topped with small broken pediments on baluster supports. The first and second floors have shallow stone mullioned bow windows, and there is a shallow swept parapet above, positioned in front of the third-floor window in the gable. The ground floor is articulated by panelled piers, with an entablature that continues from the front of the Yorkshire Bank. The shop fronts on the ground floor are modern.
