Description

The Baptist Church in Cullingworth was built in 1837. Constructed of hammer-dressed stone, it features a Welsh blue-slate roof. The ground floor has been partially converted into a house. The building is symmetrical with a pedimented front and three bays. A plinth is visible, along with a string course above the ground-floor windows and a band defining the pediment. The doorway has engaged Ionic columns, an entablature, and a dentil cornice. It is flanked by windows with architraves and cornices. The first floor has a Venetian window with a triple keystone, and round-headed windows on either side. An oval date plaque is set within the pediment. The left return has four bays of plain windows with lintels and sills, flanked by doorways; the doorway on the right provides access to the adjacent house and has monolithic jambs. The first floor of the return features five round-headed windows with plain raised surrounds. Two lateral chimney stacks and one to the rear gable are present. Internally, the building was altered around 1900, with a chapel located only on the first floor.
