Description
Nos 19 to 53 on Holme Top Lane are a row of cottages built around 1830-1840, constructed from sandstone that resembles brick. The cottages numbered 19 to 31 form one continuous block, while the others are arranged in pairs that step up the slope. They feature stone slate roofs and corniced chimneys. The windows are two-light square mullions, and the doorways have squared jambs. Number 33 protrudes slightly at a bend in the street and has a small shop window on the ground floor. This row of cottages is notable for being an intact example of early 19th-century vernacular architecture.
