Description

This building comprises two houses, now converted into shops and offices, dating from around 1830. It was altered in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The construction is primarily brick, with ashlar stone detailing and a slate roof topped with a single gable stack. The building has a plinth and modillion wooden eaves. It is three stories high, featuring a three-window front with simple sash windows and brick flat arches above. Above these are three smaller casement windows. A central, Classical wooden doorcase with three shafts supporting an open pediment frames a fielded six-panel door with a fanlight. To the left is a renewed, pilastered wooden shopfront with a corniced fascia and single-pane window. To the right is a late 20th-century mosaic shopfront with a single-pane window and glazed door. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list primarily for its group value.
