Caretaker's house and adjoining walls. 1903. Probably by Joseph Norton for the Norton School Board. Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and slate roof with single coped gable and rear wall stacks. Shouldered coped gables. 2 storeys plus basement; 2 window range. Front has a small casement and below, a door to left and a larger plain sash to right. Gable end, to Argyle Close, has a large plain sash on each floor with cornices. Rear has a small central plain sash and below, a small window flanked by larger plain sashes. Basement has 2 square hatches with plank doors. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: outside, a short wall with chamfered coping and wrought-iron railing and gate. To left, a square stone pier and a coped wall adjoining the house. At the rear, a dividing wall between the upper and lower playgrounds, with triangular stone coping and 2 openings with stone dogleg stairs and balustrade walls.
