Description

Church Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse and adjoining barn under a continuous roof, now serving as a house. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof with a single gable stack. It is a single storey plus attics and has a three-window range.

The garden front includes, on the right, a two-storey gabled stair turret with a wood mullioned three-light casement window featuring 17th-century glazing above and a 20th-century three-light casement below. To the left, there is a glazed door flanked by single three-light casements, followed by a five-light casement. Above this, there is a central through-eaves dormer with a six-light window, flanked by similar dormers with four lights, all of which are late 20th-century additions. To the right of the stair turret, there is a single-storey block with a single gable stack, a 20th-century door, and a three-light casement.

The street front has an off-centre traceried panelled door, flanked on the left by a 17th-century stone mullioned two-light window. To the left of the door, there is a three-light 20th-century casement, and to the right, a four-light one. Above, there is a small three-light window flanked by single through-eaves dormers with four lights.

Inside, the farmhouse features a stone spiral staircase and a plain chamfered stone fireplace, likely from the 17th century, with a 19th-century hob grate. The roof has single purlins with pole rafters, and the ground floor is supported by chamfered span beams.
